Upcoming Events


Sunday, November 22, 2009 – Hatboro Holiday Parade Come out and join the fun! Kiwanis Club of Hatboro-Horsham will have four cars in the parade – In addition, the Hatboro Horsham Key Club will be joining us giving out Kiwanis Peanuts as well as Kiwanis and Tanner Park information. We are very lucky to have the Hatboro Horsham High School Cheerleaders to carry our banner and bring a lot of spirit to our parade entry. Come to Tom McMackin’s house at 12:00 noon ready to enjoy lunch and help with stuffing envelopes with Tanner Park brick application information to send to various Kiwanis clubs.

Sunday, December 6, 2009 – Kiwanis Growth Summit, Together Achieving Growth (TAG) Training Get the greatest impact from your growth efforts – They will be offering focused and specialized training for Organizing a new Kiwanis club and Mentoring Kiwanis clubs. To be held at the University of Pennsylvania, Huntsman Hall at 38th Street and Locust Walk, Room G86 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 – Toys for Tots celebration at Days Inn Horsham sponsored by the Greater Horsham Chamber of Commerce. Come out from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM for some good food and good entertainment but please, bring a new unwrapped toy with you or purchase one from Santa’s Workshop through the Kidz Klub – a 20% discount will be available through the event. Come see the Hatboro Horsham High School Madrigal Singers from 5:00-6:00 PM and stay to enjoy the sounds of Southern Comfort beginning at 6:00 PM. There will be great food catered by Otto’s Brauhaus.



Saturday, December 12, 2009 – Breakfast with Santa. Young and old and everyone in between will enjoy Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Abington Aktion Club from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 235 Limekiln Pike, Glenside PA. The cost for adults is $6.00, Children 2-10 years old are $4.00 and children 1 and younger are free. Included in the cost is a FREE picture with Santa for each of the children. Hello everyone! I hope you are managing to find a way to stay warm and dry!

We had a great meeting last night with a visit from our Lt. Gov., Tim Hoffman. Among other items, we discussed co-sponsoring a new club in Warwick, Warrington and Warminster. No final decision was given last night.

We have a busy month ahead of us … Some important dates to remember …



October 24th – 11:30-12:30 Divisional Council Meeting with registration beginning at 11:00. Please respond to Timothy Hoffman at tjhmph9471@yahoo.com by Sunday, October 18th if you plan to attend. There will be lunch following the meeting from 12:30-1:30 and a special Caitlin’s Smiles project following the lunch from 1:30-4:00. The cost is $7.00 for the entire day.



October 24th – Following the above is the Halloween Safety Party at Springfield Erdenheim School (the old Weldon Elementary school) Volunteers are needed from 5:00-7:30 if you are available



October 26th – Volunteers are needed beginning at 7:00 PM to put together boxes for the roses. The location is 216 W. Bristol Rd. in Ivyland




October 28th – We need to turn in a count for the Beef ‘n Beer. Please email me on 10/28 the number of tickets you have sold/know you will sell.


October 29th – Volunteers are needed to put the roses together and into the boxes beginning at 6:30 AM. The location is 216 W. Bristol Rd. in Ivyland



Hatboro Lofts – Historical Stoveworks Complex

October 29th – Stoveworks / Hatboro Lofts Open House from 4:00-7:00. They will have a wine and cheese open house and our club is planning on displaying a table. Please stop by if you are available.



November 5th – Kiwanis meeting at 7:30 AM at Otto’s Brauhaus – Hope to see you for breakfast! Please bring a bottle of whatever alcohol you’d like to include in our Kiwanis Basket for the Beef ‘n Beer raffle. If you will not be able to attend the meeting, please drop off the bottle at Days Inn.



November 6th – First Friday Hatboro – Our club will have our own Peanut Night. We need volunteers




November 7th – Beef ‘n Beer Need I say more? :-)



Any Wednesday from 12:45 – 1:20 at Thomas Fitzwatertown Elementary School in Upper Dublin. Volunteers are needed to help with gym class for special needs students. Go, have some fun, make new friends and make a difference in someone’s life. :-)



November 19th – Kiwanis meeting at 6:30 PM at Days Inn Horsham – Meatball sandwiches anyone?



November 22nd – Hatboro Holiday Parade. Tom has managed to get at least 4 cars and Joanne Adams may have a car for the Kiwanis and Key Clubs. We are ordering 8 Kiwanis magnets for the cars and will be handing out Kiwanis Peanuts. Plan to meet at Tom’s house at Noon.
